The National Secretariat and its staff are pleased to announce that the agenda for the 13th National Encounter has already been finalized and is now ready for distribution. This is by far the earliest that we have ever been able to make this information known since the planning usually takes place in February/March immediately prior to the Encounter.

This year’s Encounter will follow the format that was used in Mallorca in 1994 during their 50th Anniversary celebration of the very first Cursillo de Cristiandad Weekend held at Cala Figuera in 1944. During that celebration, Cursillo leaders from throughout the world went to Mallorca to hear the Conversations of Cala Figuera. There were ten topics that were discussed during these Conversations of Cala Figuera and they reflected the various aspects that were taken into consideration by the founders as they went about listening to the Holy Spirit and studying various aspects of mankind, the Church and the world.

In keeping with the various aspects of the Cursillo Movement, we have sought to insure a proper utilization of heterogeneity in the planning of this 13th National Encounter. Members of the English community, the Spanish community, the Filipino community, the Portuguese community and the Vietnamese community will present the ten topics. They will be given by monsignors, priests, deacons laywomen and laymen. Five topics will be given in English and five topics will be given in Spanish. Simultaneous translation will be available for all throughout the entire 13th National Encounter. Jesus Valls, President of the Secretariat in Mallorca and personal protégé of Eduardo Bonnin will be presenting the same presentation that he gave in 1994 in Mallorca. You will not want to miss his presentation.

The facilities are far and above some of the best we have ever had. We will be using state-of-the-art equipment and the atmosphere will be wonderful. Our only problem is the fact that the main meeting room will only accommodate 600 people, however, we are making provisions for placing additional people.

Plan to start putting some money aside for this upcoming event. You will not be disappointed. We are anticipating the cost to be $250.00 per person. As usual, this amount covers all your expenses from the moment you arrive to Cincinnati until you are ready to depart (meals, lodging, Encounter, Ultreya, fiesta, etc.)
